Julian Spangler
Julian is a senior from Noblesville, Indiana studying Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. He is involved in nuclear chemistry research with the deSouza group. After graduating, he will attend IU School of Medicine. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar with his band.
Anjali Dziarski
Anjali Dziarski is a Junior studying physics. She’s also pursuing minors in Math, Environmental Science, and French. She loves to dance and sing is an active member of ballroom club.
Nicky Goh
Nicky Goh is a Freshman Wells Scholar from Bloomington, IN, studying intelligent systems engineering and microbiology with minors in chemistry and mathematics. He is a member of the Fuqua Lab studying bacterial pathogenesis with a focus on biofilm synthesis. In his spare time, Nicky enjoys hiking, running, and watching squirrels roam IU’s campus. He hopes to travel to Thailand to sample spicy food and bask in its majestic sunsets one day.
Parmida Nazarloo
Parmida Nazarloo is a sophomore from Fishers, IN majoring in Human Biology with minors in Chemistry and Social Science & Medicine. Parmida is currently doing research on immune response and behavior which inspired her to join IUJUR and help other undergrads pursue their research careers. Parmida is also on a pre-medical track and enjoys volunteering for MedLife and the Minority Association for Pre-Medical Students. In her free time, Parmida enjoys visiting family and trying new foods.
Laila Hamid
Laila Hamid is a junior from Indianapolis, IN. She is studying Policy Analysis with a minor in Information Systems. Outside of IUJUR, Laila is a copyeditor for the IDS and a student intern for the Allies for Equity team. In her free time, she likes to read, try out new restaurants, and go hiking.
Christian Imes
Christian is a senior from South Bend, Indiana, studying chemistry and nutrition science on a pre-med track. Christian hopes to attend medical school in the fall of 2024 in pursuit of becoming an emergency room physician. Christian is also an RA on campus inside Walnut Grove!
Anna Heintzman
Anna is a sophomore from Newberry, Indiana studying Biochemistry and East Asian Languages and Cultures. She is a part of the IU Chinese Flagship, and intends to pursue a medical career abroad after graduation. She works in research on campus with the ProHealth Informatics group studying the utility of wearable smart devices in predicting user risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes. In her free time, she enjoys baking, cooking, and watching MasterChef Junior.
Zain Niazi
Zain is sophomore from Carmel, IN majoring in Neuroscience. Along with working for the IUJUR, Zain is also an editor for the IU undergraduate journal Law & Disorder. In his spare time, he enjoys playing table tennis, lifting, and exploring nature.
Faith Stimson
Faith Stimson is a freshman from Bloomington, IN studying Biochemistry and Spanish. She’s on a premedical track and is excited to get involved in research at IU. Faith is also an officer in her Hutton Honors Residence Council. In her free time, Faith likes to play the harp, bake various kinds of pie, and go on runs.
Grant Newman
Grant Newman is a sophomore from Fort Wayne, IN, studying Biochemistry, Neuroscience, and Portuguese. He is an undergraduate researcher in the VanNieuwenhze Lab investigating optimization of probes to study bacterial peptidoglycan synthesis. In his free time, he enjoys cooking and spending time with his dogs.
Yahya Amjad
Yahya is a freshman from Indianapolis, IN studying Biology and Computer Science on a Pre-Medical track. His research experiences have fueled a passion for computational biology and nanotechnology. Outside of IUJUR, he is a member of the Wells Scholar Program and the Minority Association for Pre-Medical Students. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, listening to music, and photography.
